Washington Alpine Resort or Forbidden Plateau area to experience backcountry snowshoeing or hiking depending on snow conditions. The trip leaves from the resort's base area or trailhead and explores the local area and trails of Mt. Washington, neighboring Strathcona Provincial Park, or the Forbidden Plateau area. Introductory snowshoe lessons are provided by Vancouver Island University staff. You will be outside for the majority of the trip, especially if you have signed up for the Forbidden Plateau location, so please be prepared! What to wear: Appropriate warm clothing and footwear for the weather (dress in layers)  What to bring: Daypack Hiking Boots, or good winter boots Waterproof jacket or ski jacket and pants Warm gloves or mittens Toque or warm hat Water bottle Snacks & Lunch (or money for food) Extra socks for the bus ride back A sun hat or ball cap Sunglasses Sunscreen Meeting Location:  VIU Gym Building 190 at 9:00 am Trip Includes: Transportation to and from Mount Washington, equipment and guided hike VIU provides all the other required equipment. This includes: all snowshoe equipment, ski boots that you can wear for snowshoeing, trail passes, rain jackets, we even have a some snow pants, and safety equipment. If you prefer to use your own gear then please bring it with you. CC Road Trips - Snowshoeing with Outdoor Rec
