VIU is committed to fostering a sense of global citizenship by creating spaces on-campus for students, staff and faculty to develop their international knowledge and become active global citizens. We provide international learning opportunities and pathways toward active engagement by hosting annual events such as WorldVIU Days and Global Citizens Week, supporting globally-engaged student clubs, and linking to internationally focused programming.

VIU is proud to host annual week long events, including WorldVIU Days (November) and Global Citizens Week (February), and collaborate with partners throughout the rest of the year to host and promote global engagement events for the campus and community.

WUSC
VIU’s World University Service of Canada (WUSC) Local Committee is a campus-based student group working towards a more inclusive, equitable and sustainable world by supporting student refugees in their integration to Canadian social and academic life.
Model United Nations
Model United Nations is an activity in which students role-play as international delegates to the United Nations and simulate UN committees. This activity takes place at conferences that are organized by a MUN student organization.
Eco Club
The VIU Eco Club is working towards increasing VIU’s positive impact on the environment and encouraging more sustainable behaviours in everyday life through organized events, volunteer work and activism.

Global Citizens Network
What is something that you've always been curious about related to culture? This is your opportunity to explore it! Though opportunities for intercultural learning abroad are on hold, you are invited to get creative and earn Global Citizens Network Stipend hours while discovering the world from home!
Exchange Agents
Exchange Agents are ambassadors of the VIU international semester Exchange Program. They are student leaders on campus who volunteer their time to share their experiences of going abroad on a semester exchange to a VIU partner university.
