VIU - Cultural Connections - Road Trips - Parksville Curling & Morningstar Farms

Trip Information

About Curling

We will first be going to the Parksville Curling Club. Curling is a sport that started in 16th-century Scotland and was very different from how the game is played today. Curling played today is a team sport where you try and toss the rocks down the ice so they hit the center of the bullseye or in curling terms, the button. Then your teammate tries to sweep to smooth the ice leading the rock to its place. This is one of Canada's favorite sports that is a fun, unique game everyone can enjoy

About Morningstar Farms

Morningstar Farm is a local food hub featuring self-guided tours, a farmgate store, seasonal "calfé", a petting farm, trails, and Canada's first "milk on tap" dispenser. Open daily year-round. The Farm, Winery, and cheese works were all started by a family in Parksville. While they make their own milk, cheese, wine and other goods from farm to table for everyone to enjoy.
