Nanaimo River Hatchery

Cultural Connections - Local Hikes

Join Cultural Connections as we head outdoors and explore some of the most scenic and awe-inspiring, local hiking trails throughout the Summer semester. We have selected 10 hikes that are based out of Nanaimo. This program runs from May - July on Fridays from 1:30PM - 4PM. The cost to join is only $2.00. Please sign up in advance.

Nanaimo River Hatchery

One of Nanaimo's little secrets! The Nanaimo River Hatchery is an active conservation site and an excellent place to explore and learn about the salmon's life cycle. The scenery around the hatchery is beautiful. You can walk along the Nanaimo River and Haslam Creek and stroll around Napoleon Pond, which has a fish ladder going from the river into the pond.
