Sit back and relax as you float down the crystal clear water! With safety in mind - we will each be rocking (wearing) a life jacket and remain together as one big group! This is an absolute Canadian summer treat! So don't miss out!  We will be launching from the Central Park Launch in Cowichan, which will give us approximately 2 hours of floating time. Our exit will be at Little Beach and from there we will get a shuttle back into town. This activity is not recommended for those who are not strong swimmers.  What to Wear on the River: Appropriate bathing suits  Shorts UV Shirts if you are sensitive to the sun  Sandals (not flip-flops) or water shoes (rocks can be painful to walk on) Sunscreen (EVERYONE will put some on prior to departing) Hat What to Bring: Change of clothing Extra shoes Towel Water bottle  Snacks & Lunch (or money for food) Sunscreen Hat A backpack to carry all your items Waterproof Camera (bring at your own risk) Dry bag for extra items on the water (bring at your own risk)  While on the River: Smoking is not permitted on the river or in the forest There is zero tolerance for alcohol and drugs Students must be in good health and not subject to dizziness or motion sickness; must be free from high blood pressure, heart, back or neck problems; must not be pregnant Students are responsible for the safe-keeping of personal items Students must have experience swimming  Meeting Location:  VIU Building 255 - Main Lobby (2nd Floor) Policies, Health & Safety We have an ongoing commitment to ensure the safety and quality of our trips, with trained and responsible student leaders, staff and community partners. Before you sign-up, please check out our policies & procedures for more information about how to prepare for a trip, as well as our cancellation policy. How to Sign Up Our activities are available to all current VIU Students. Sign up with us in person in Building 255. You will need to have your: Student card, Proof of medical insurance (BC Care Card or Guard.me Insurance Policy) Payment (cash is currently the only method of payment for activities) Hours & Locations for Signing Up with us: Faculty of International Education Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 4 pm in Building 255, 2nd Floor Reception. Lunchtime Activity Sign Up Booth Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12 pm – 1 pm in Building 255 - 1st Floor International Commons. All participants are required to read and sign the waiver before the start of the trip. We will provide a paper copy for you to read through again and sign the morning of the trip.
