- Class scheduling and registration
- Personal advising and counseling
- Educational goals
- Medical insurance
- Scholarships and awards
- Study skills
- Referrals to resources
- Living in Canada
Advisors take confidentiality very seriously and follow the guidelines of Canada's Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.

Students are encouraged to meet with their Degree Advisor as early as they wish to declare their Major/Minors. VIU GPS helps you look at options but is not an official declaration of your Major/Minors. You need to meet with your Degree Advisor to accomplish this. Degree Advisors can link you with enrichment opportunities relevant to your degree focus (experiential, volunteer, research, leadership, student development). Sign up sheets for appointments are found near their doors.
To assist you with your study permit extension, work/co-op permit and/or visa application, you will find CD tutorials, binders and brochures available at front reception in building 255. If you need further assistance, come to an Immigration Drop-in Sessions to meet with Immigration advisor Makhbuba (Mak) Ergasheva, Michelle Quigg, Mohammed Hawamdeh. Sign up at the reception area in building 255, second floor.
