Business Field School to Croatia 2020

Program Overview

Field School Dates: May 1 - 21, 2020

This 9 credit field school will visit Croatia, Slovenia, Austria and Germany. Participants can expect to take part in industry tours of breweries, the BMW plant near Munich, meeting a representative of a EU agency, visiting a Croatian Telecom company and other businesses, such as bakeries and a 3D Printing company. There will be castles to see, a cruise on the Adriatic, 3 and 4 star hotels, one of which will be beachfront , and the ability to enjoy Europe with your classmates - all while studying at the same time.

3rd year standing or permission of instructors.

Field School Fees and Costs: $2,600

  • Tuition for MGMT 397, 398 and 399
  • Return airfare to and from the field school location
  • Guard.Me Travel medical insurance
  • Some ground travel

  • Most meals other than breakfast
  • Personal expenses
  • Passport and visa costs
  • Vaccinations if required

All payments must be made via the student record. Credit cards are not accepted.

Passports: All participants must have a valid passport good for six months after your return. Applications for Canadian passports are available at Canada Post offices. Students must be able to legally travel outside of Canada and through/to the USA.

Visas: This field school travels to countries that are part of the Schengen Region in Europe.

  • Canadian passport holders do not require a visa for short-term travel to the Schengen Region.
  • International students at VIU participating in this field school may require a visa to travel in the Schengen Region depending on their nationality. Please visit Schengen Visa Info for more information.
  • Students will be responsible for applying for and securing their own visas (where appropriate) and ensuring that they have enough entries on their travel documents for each country the program is travelling to.
  • International students going abroad must make sure their TRV and Study Permits are up-to-date and won't expire while they are abroad.
