Activities + Day Trips

The primary goal of our Cultural Connections Activities & Day Trips is to enhance the student experience at VIU. We seek to do this by providing opportunities for students to engage with the local community and experience cultural events, while exploring nature and connecting with peers.

Being connected, active, and engaged in the local environment is healthy. It can help with the cultural adjustment process for students who are new to Canada or new to the community.

Parksville, Rathetrevor & Mini Golf

About Parksville, Rathetrevor & Mini Golf

Join us as we head North of Nanaimo to the community of Parksville where we will make our way to one of the most beautiful beaches on this side of Vancouver Island. Rathtrevor Beach Provincial Park has a large beach where we will explore the shore for unique sea creatures or play some games. At low tide the beach can be 1km long, when the tide rolls in over the sun-baked sand, the warmed water is unbeatable for swimming and salt water fun.
