Language & Culture in Germany
Hello, my name is Brodie Hay, I am a fourth year VIU student studying Computer Science as well as a volunteer exchange agent working with the International Mobility department at VIU.
This year I was lucky enough to go on exchange for the summer semester to Ostbayerische Technische Hochschule (OTH) Regensburg in Bavaria, Germany. I was able to get a lot of travelling done before my semester started, and I was lucky enough to visit places like Zurich, Budapest, Vienna, and a lot of different German cities!
My Exchange in Spain
One of the most incredible moments that I experienced when I was living in Huelva, Spain happened on the very first day I went out into the city, and ended up completely changing how I would remember my time in Spain. My mom, my dad and myself had just came back from the University of Huelva after getting all my papers signed, finding out where my classes would be and what materials I would need. We got off of the bus heading back into the center of the city and decided we needed a well-deserved cervesa (beer).
No Worries Wednesday – Language Acquisition
No Worries Wednesday is a series where blog contributors speak to a topic which they were worried before they participated in an International Mobility experience. Leaving all that you are surrounded by and comfortable with can be challenging or even frightening. This series will hopefully dispel myths and ease worries for students who are considering taking part in exchanges, field schools or other international learning opportunities!
