We have selected ten of our favourite trails and will be guiding you on the hikes so you can discover some of the beautiful parks that Nanaimo has to offer. This program runs on Fridays during the Fall and Spring semesters. And each trip costs only $2! See the full hike series info. Neck Point Park This seaside park has stunning views over the ocean to the mountains beyond, as well as exciting nooks and crannies to explore among the rocky bluffs and beaches. The park's named for a gravel bar (maybe like a "neck") connecting the park to a rocky "head" out in the water. Sea lions and sometimes even orcas pass by here, and from the tops of small cliffs at the north end of the park you can see eagles and really enjoy the view. What to wear: Proper clothing for the weather and for walking Running shoes or hiking boots (good shoes for walking) No sandals What to bring: Snacks & lunch Water bottle  Umbrella or rain coat (in case it rains) A backpack to carry all your items Meeting Location:  VIU Building 255 Main Lobby at 1:30 pm Trip Includes: Your $2 fee includes transportation to and from the hike and a guided hike on one of Nanaimo's trails.
