This program runs on Fridays during the Fall and Spring semesters. Each trip costs only $2! See the full hike series info. Linley Valley Linley Valley is probably Nanaimo's best kept secret! With over 400 acres of wilderness protected between Departure Bay and Hammond Bay, there is lots to explore in this valley. The network of trails within the park will take you through various landscapes from forested trails to valleys, fields and rocky hilltops. We will hike approximately 6 km, which will take about 1.5 hours. What to wear: Rain gear (jacket and pants) - weather can change quickly on Vancouver Island so pack items even if it is sunny out Pants, shirt, sweater (dress in layers) - made from fleece, synthetics, or wool Socks - made from synthetics or wool  Toque or warm hat Gloves or mittens - made from fleece or wool Sturdy runners or hiking boots - NO sandals What to bring: Backpack Water Snacks Sunscreen Camera Meeting Location:  VIU Building 255 Main Lobby at 1:30 pm Trip Includes: Your $2 fee includes transportation to and from the trail and a guided hike. Policies, Health & Safety: We have an ongoing commitment to ensure the safety and quality of our trips, with trained and responsible student leaders, staff and community partners. Before you sign-up, please check out our policies & procedures for more information about how to prepare for a trip, as well as our cancellation policy. How to Sign Up: Our activities are available to all current VIU Students. Sign up with us in person in Building 255. Linley Valley
