Add to CalendarNanaimo's Top 10 Hikes: Ammonite Falls05/18/2018 01:30 PM05/18/2018 04:00 PMMM/DD/YYYYAmerica/VancouverAbout Ammonite Falls This beautiful waterfall is named for the fossils of an ancient snail-like creature, called an ammonite, that you can find in the layers of rock - so the name Ammonite Falls!  Shortly after you enter the forest, sounds of the nearby road fade and nature takes over. We will hike about 40 minutes through forest to reach the waterfall. You can stay at the top of the ledge to take some beautiful pictures, or if you are feeling adventurous, there is an rope to help you get down to the bottom of the waterfall. This is a challenging hike, but worth the effort! What to wear: Proper clothing for the weather and for walking Running shoes or hiking boots No sandals What to bring: Snacks  Water bottle  Umbrella or rain coat (in case it rains) A backpack to carry all your items Meeting Location:  VIU Building 255 Main Lobby  Trip Includes: Transportation to and from the hike and a guided hike on one of Nanaimo's Trails Policies, Health & Safety We have an ongoing commitment to ensure the safety and quality of our trips, with trained and responsible student leaders, staff and community partners. Lunchtime Activity Sign Up Booth Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12pm – 1pm in Building 255 - 1st Floor International Commons. Waiver Form Please read our general waiver form for VIU group activities in the attchement section below. All participants are required to read and sign the waiver before the start of the trip. We will provide a paper copy for you to read through again and sign the morning of the trip.
